Well, it's not officially a challenge for the photoclub, more of an update for everyone to see the beautiful bride! Cinds wedding was tons of fun and just at a gorgeous setting (Jasper, Alberta). Wish you all could've been there to celebrate, so instead we've got pics to share.

Challanges for Week July 26, 2006

Challenge: Gold
Without using Jewelry, find something gold and shoot it

Challenge: Colour on colour
Take a picture of a coloured subject of subjects on the same background colour.

Challenge Black and white in colour
Take a colour photo of a blake and white (or grayscale) subject or subjects. No conversion / desaturation to black and white or shooting in black and white.

Hi guys,

Sorry to disappoint, I wasn't able to get a challenge in for this round. You'd think '10' would've been an easy challenge too. Just coordinating and planning certain people's stagette's :), so I hopefully should be back on the ball in a couple weeks.

Sharon's Pics for June 28 Challenge

Here's my take on the 'Intentional Blur'. We have a mini-tour-de-Yaletown last weekend and wanted to try and capture them speeding by! I tried taking the woman's race, but with our small point and shoot and the rate (ie slow) at which they were going, I couldn't accomplish the blur. But since the guys went faster... at least I got a bit of the blur (slow shutter speed).

My second pic is something that we took a couple years ago on Galiano Island, but I thought it was a neat way of using a reflection of the window (glass with a twist)! So, you can see our reflection plus what's inside.

Found this awesome Photoshop plugin that got rid of all the 'grain' in from the RAW images that I had a problem with last photo. It's called 'Noise Ninja' =)

Royal Ascot 2006

Having been at Royal Ascot yesterday, took the opportunity to take a picture of the field in the penultimate race. Would probably have worked a little better if I could increase the length of the exposure, but I couldn't... guess that's what you get for having a cheap point and shoot camera!

Motion Blur

-Intentional motion blur is an effect that can be achieved by zooming on a stationary subject, panning a moving subject, using long exposure, etc. Search for subjects that will be enhanced by this treatment. Extra Rules:Reminder: Motion blur should NOT be added in post processing.

Superstitions & Urban Legends

-Photograph a well-known superstition or urban legend. Keep in mind your target audience as you photograph, since this site spans the globe.

Glass (with a twist)

-Creatively shoot anything made of glass EXCEPT an object intended to hold a liquid; NO wineglasses, NO martini glasses, NO water glasses or tumblers, NO glass vases

Shonalanga - Centuriona, RSA

A "shadows" pic of a swan. Taken at the same venue, and just had to wait for the perfect moment for the swan to swim by and capture it. Didn't get the full shadow though :)

OK, so I don't get to play with my camera much but got to do so in Prague, so here's another from the same trip...

Can't remember the name of the building, but it was taken in what is called the Old Town.

Unfortunately, didn't quite manage to capture the same sense of parental love with the shadows as Brett and Sonia did, but am still learning...

Coba - Mayan Riviera

Framing... or not :) Taken in Mexico at the Coba site. Note how the arc from the arch gently embraces the shadow within to create a sense of parental love - just in time for Father's Day. Shut up.
